Jason Tuara
Fisherman Jason Tuara goes out every day with his wooden boat Tai Vao to fish for tuna, mahi mahi and wahoo. 2 years ago, he caught a 200kg blue marlin and a 60kg moonfish using the “poito” (handline) bottom fishing method. He is one of the few artisanal fishermen on Rarotonga who lives purely from fishing. Jason is also a professional shooter and is contracted as a hunter of mynah birds by Cook Island's councils.
